The film is about a new teacher in an old school, Miss Teacher - the only woman who was offered to work at "the most dangerous high school in the country" - which is nowhere near any major town so there are no parents to be found. The students are mostly itinerant, tribal groups of rebellious youths who have been brought together by the establishment's one-day amnesty program. When she arrives, she finds her class started on what they call "the dry version" of their English paper. The dry version has only words on it and takes up less than half a page in order to keep them busy while they do their regular homework. They write sentences on the blackboard and if they get it wrong, they do push-ups. So the teacher tries to teach them in the usual way: she starts with greetings and sayings and ends up reading a story about a kitten. But soon after she notices that all her students are gone; they've escaped through the ceiling with carvings of birds. Miss Teacher runs outside and finds them armed, ready for an uprising, but when she speaks in her native language (which is subtitled), they agree to be led by her since she seems to understand them - even their leader accepts her. Before filming, the director worked with four teachers to ensure that each lesson could be accurately recreated. He also used two child actors, Raffaello Degruttola and Virginia Lucenti, who have Down Syndrome to help achieve the correct expressions for the mentally disabled students. The film came out in 1980 after being released internationally in 1979. The director of this movie is Lino Brocka, who also the director of another movie entitled "Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag" or "Manila: In the Claws of Light". The plot is about a woman newcomer teacher in a school. She was accepted to work in a school for the poor and uncivilized people because of her being qualified enough to teach them, but she did not have that much idea on how to handle the class where she was assigned. The movie plot showed the way how she handled something so tough and challenging for her. She was persistent to give her best effort in teaching them whether they were uncivilized or not. They were so challenging both mentally and physically from their uncivilized character because of their looks and dress up that you can see that they looked like rebels and criminals, but actually they were hardworking students who wanted nothing but an education. The movie showed a different kind of teacher from the usual teachers that you get to see in a school. They were tough and strict, but they wanted the best for their students. The students were not disciplined by anyone that's why they did not know how to follow rules. The class was full of rebel students who did not want to follow the rules of a school, but these ones did not give up on them and tried helping them by giving them what they really needed - knowledge and education since they lived in a remote area where no one wants to go because of its poor condition. The movie had a great plot with a great moral lesson on its end. cfa1e77820
